Diversity of Land & Ecology

This area of south central Oregon is on the northern edge of the Great Basin. The landscape is a stunning, diverse high desert. The diversity of the land varies so greatly it is hard to capture in a few photographs as it ranges from alkaline lakes, mountains, buttes, volcanic remains, geothermal areas, lost forests of ponderosa pines, sand dunes, acres of sage, rivers and more. Wildlife is abundant. Flora is subtle yet richly diverse. Besides federal agencies overseeing ¾’s of the land, there are cattle ranches and renowned alfalfa crops.
