Rocking chairs with paint and charcoal, fabric on rope, concrete dots with charcoal and wax, paper leaves, fabric, fan and paint. Kittredge Gallery, University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA

This was an interactive installation that used the entire gallery space. It included two rocking chairs with words carved into their surfaces, an unraveled “story ball” connecting the adult and child’s rocking chairs made of a 75′ rope covered in fabric with a five knots that became increasingly complex. Each knot was associated with a placard with a partial phrase evoking the beginning of an event in someone’s life. The opposite end of the space dropped off into darkness, framed and tempered by the flickering leaf shadows cast on the side walls.
