Temporary Installation, Tacoma Arts Festival

Six artists were commissioned to create temporary projects for the spectacular outdoor amphitheater of an historic high school building. The main part of a two-part installation was located on the landing of the two stairways that led to the floor and seating of the stadium. All festival goer passed through this part that worked with the existing structure of the stairs and the shadow patterns created by railing and stairs. This part virtually disappeared from view once on the floor of the stadium. A smaller individually scaled piece was placed in the seating area enticing viewers into the stands to rest above the action.
